IgniteCrafts
Quest-locked custom crafting engine for Paper and Folia 1.21.11

42 quest types • 16 built-in actions • daily & weekly rotations • SQL storage • PAPI • Vault • MythicMobs

What is IgniteCrafts?

IgniteCrafts is a quest-locked custom crafting plugin built for Paper and Folia servers. Instead of giving players every recipe from the start, IgniteCrafts ties each craft to a quest. Players earn their recipes by actually playing - killing mobs, mining, fishing, spending time in biomes, or completing any other tracked action.

Once a quest is finished, the recipe unlocks instantly and stays unlocked for that player. They can then craft the item using the vanilla crafting table or directly from the in-game unlock menu using the quick craft button.

On top of the long-term unlock loop, IgniteCrafts now ships daily and weekly rotating quests - so players have a fresh reason to log in every day, and admins get an out-of-the-box retention hook without writing a line of code.

New in 1.1.0

  1. Daily & weekly rotating quests - rotate from a configured pool, pay bonus money on completion
  2. 7 new universal actions - HARVEST_AREA, VEIN_MINER_BURST, RECALL, SUMMON_ALLY, LIFE_STEAL, SHIELD_BUBBLE, FORAGE_LOOT
  3. PlaceholderAPI expansion - rich set of placeholders for HUDs, scoreboards, tab lists
  4. MySQL & SQLite storage - cross-server progress with HikariCP-backed connection pooling
  5. Vault integration - optional money costs on quick craft and money rewards on quest complete
  6. MythicMobs integration - filter MOB_KILL quests by MythicMobs internal name
  7. In-game editor GUI - paginated inspector for crafts and quests with quick-action buttons
  8. Per-world enable/disable - whitelist or blacklist worlds in one config block

How it works

Play naturally - Kill, mine, brew, fish, walk, enchant. The plugin tracks everything automatically in the background.

Finish the quest - Progress is tracked per player. Hit the target and the recipe unlocks instantly.

Craft and use - Craft from the vanilla table or use the quick craft button in the GUI. Cooldowns and consume mode are included.

Quest Engine - 42 built-in types

Every quest connects directly to a craft unlock. You configure the target, filters and reward crafts in quests.yml.

Combat
PLAYER_KILL • PLAYER_KILL_STREAK • MOB_KILL • BOW_HIT_PLAYER • PROJECTILE_HIT_PLAYER • PROJECTILE_SHOT • PLAYER_DAMAGE • DAMAGE_TAKEN • PLAYER_HEAL • NEAR_DEATH_HIT

Blocks & Items
BLOCK_BREAK • BLOCK_PLACE • ITEM_COLLECT • ITEM_CRAFT • ITEM_CONSUME • ITEM_BREAK • FURNACE_EXTRACT • BUCKET_FILL • BUCKET_EMPTY

Survival & Movement
PLAY_TIME • DISTANCE_WALKED • UNDER_Y_TIME • HIGH_Y_TIME • BIOME_TIME • IN_WATER_TIME • SNEAK_TIME • SPRINT_TIME • WORLD_BORDER_TIME • NEAR_PLAYER_TIME

Utility
BREW_POTION • FISH_CAUGHT • ENCHANT_ITEM • XP_GAIN • ENTITY_TAME • ENTITY_BREED • ADVANCEMENT_DONE • FIND_PLAYER

Custom API
CUSTOM - any external plugin can push its own progress into the quest engine via the API.

Daily & weekly rotations

The rotation engine ships pre-wired in rotations.yml. Pick a pool of existing quests, set how many should be active per period, and configure the bonus reward.

  1. Daily and weekly cadence - each rotation rolls fresh picks at its own period flip
  2. Per-player selection - every player gets their own random pull from the pool
  3. Bonus rewards on completion - money via Vault and configurable console commands
  4. Independent from main backend - rotation state is persisted in its own file so YAML and SQL setups behave the same
  5. Refresh anytime with /crafts rotation

Craft Engine & Built-in Actions

Items are defined in crafts.yml with a shaped recipe, material, cooldown, consume mode and an action handler.

UHC / PvP

  1. POTION_SELF - Applies potion effects to the user
  2. PROJECTILE_DEBUFF - Throws a tagged projectile that debuffs targets on hit
  3. TRACKER - Shows the direction of the nearest player
  4. BRIDGE - Places a short bridge in front of the player
  5. GLOW_PULSE - Briefly glows nearby players
  6. BLOOD_TOTEM - Applies buffs at the cost of health
  7. THUNDER_PEARL - Ender pearl with a lightning strike on impact
  8. INSTANT_WALL - Instantly places a 3×3 defensive wall
  9. TRAP_PROJECTILE - Projectile that creates a pit on landing

New in 1.1.0 - universal toolkit

  1. HARVEST_AREA - Harvests every ripe crop around the player (great for farming SMPs)
  2. VEIN_MINER_BURST - Breaks a connected ore vein up to a configured limit
  3. RECALL - Teleports to the player's bed or world spawn
  4. SUMMON_ALLY - Spawns a temporary ally entity for a configured duration
  5. LIFE_STEAL - Damages the nearest player and heals the caster (lifesteal SMP friendly)
  6. SHIELD_BUBBLE - Short resistance + absorption defensive burst
  7. FORAGE_LOOT - Drops random loot from a configured material list (RPG / loot servers)

Custom Actions API

Register your own CraftActionHandler from any plugin and reference it in crafts.yml by ID. Built-in actions use the exact same path - no special treatment.

  1. CraftActionHandler - id() key + apply() effect - required interface
  2. CraftActionContext - player, craft definition, item, typed settings
  3. CraftProjectileHitContext - projectile, location, hit entity, settings
  4. CraftActionValidator - validate() to declare required settings at config load
  5. CraftSettings - static accessors for the loose settings map

Cooldowns, consume mode and CraftUseEvent are handled by the dispatcher automatically. Handlers stay focused on the effect only.

PlaceholderAPI

Drop these into scoreboards, chat formats, hologram lines or any other PAPI-aware plugin.

  1. %ignitecrafts_crafts_total% / %ignitecrafts_crafts_unlocked% / %ignitecrafts_crafts_percent%
  2. %ignitecrafts_quests_total% / %ignitecrafts_quests_completed% / %ignitecrafts_quests_percent%
  3. %ignitecrafts_progress_% - raw progress
  4. %ignitecrafts_progress_percent_% - 0-100 percent
  5. %ignitecrafts_target_% - quest target
  6. %ignitecrafts_unlocked_% - true / false
  7. %ignitecrafts_quest_status_% - completed / in_progress / locked
  8. %ignitecrafts_top_unlocked_% - top players by unlock count

Storage backends

Pick the backend that fits your network. All three implement the same interface and persist the same fields.

  1. YAML - default, zero-config, ideal for single servers
  2. SQLITE - file-backed database, perfect drop-in upgrade with no setup
  3. MYSQL - cross-server progress for networks running BungeeCord or Velocity

HikariCP connection pooling and JDBC drivers are loaded automatically through Paper's library loader - no manual jar install required.

Integrations

  1. PlaceholderAPI - registered automatically when PAPI is present
  2. Vault - optional currency cost on quick craft, optional currency reward on quest complete, optional rotation bonus
  3. MythicMobs - filter MOB_KILL quests by prefixing the filter with MYTHIC: followed by the mob internal name
  4. IgniteUHC - tighter match lifecycle integration for UHC servers

Every integration is soft-loaded. Missing plugins are skipped silently.

Default UHC Crafts - 18 items

IgniteCrafts ships with 18 ready-to-use UHC-focused crafts out of the box. All defaults are fully editable - rebalance, remove or use them as templates for your own item set.

  1. Golden Booster / Golden Booster+
  2. Blood Apple
  3. Frost Bite
  4. Tracker Eye
  5. Bridge Wand / Bridge Wand+
  6. Escape Feather / Escape Feather+
  7. X-Ray Pulse
  8. Blood Totem / Blood Totem+
  9. Thunder Pearl / Thunder Pearl+
  10. Instant Wall
  11. Bunker Wall
  12. Trap Powder
  13. Last Chance Charm

Each item has a shaped recipe, cooldown, consume mode and a linked action handler. Items with a + tier are stronger versions unlocked through a separate, harder quest.

Player GUI

A paginated unlock menu shows every craft. Locked recipes display as a block icon, unlocked ones as the actual item. Clicking any entry opens a recipe screen with the shaped 3×3 grid and a quick craft button.

  1. Progress bar in item lore - shows task name, current value and status
  2. Recipe screen: shaped 3×3 grid, result item preview and back button
  3. Quick craft button (requires ignitecrafts.quickcraft permission)
  4. Fully configurable: slots, menu size, fillers, buttons and lore templates

Admin Editor GUI

/crafts editor opens a paginated inspector that lists every craft and quest. Click any entry to see its full configuration, drop a test item into your inventory, or force-unlock a recipe for yourself. Editing still happens in crafts.yml / quests.yml followed by /crafts reload - keeps comments and formatting intact.

Configuration Files

All config files are hot-reloadable. New keys are added automatically and backups are created before each reload.

  1. config.yml - Storage backend, tracking, world filter, GUI layout, progress bar, recipe menu, buttons and global effects
  2. crafts.yml - Items, shaped recipes, action handlers, cooldowns, consume mode, Vault costs
  3. quests.yml - Unlock tasks, targets, filters, per-quest settings, reward crafts and Vault rewards
  4. rotations.yml - Daily and weekly rotation pools and bonus rewards
  5. messages.yml - All player-facing messages with full MiniMessage support
  6. progress.yml (or SQL tables) - Runtime per-player progress storage

  2. Java: 21
  3. Optional: PlaceholderAPI, Vault + economy provider, MythicMobs

Standalone JAR - IgniteAPI and ACF are shaded and relocated inside the jar. JDBC drivers (SQLite, MySQL) are pulled at runtime by Paper's library loader. No separate dependency plugin is needed on the server.

Perfect for

  1. UHC servers
  2. PvP event servers
  3. Survival and SMP servers
  4. Lifesteal SMP servers
  5. Hardcore event servers
  6. Skyblock and RPG-style servers
  7. Progression gamemodes
  8. Servers with custom items or unique item economies
  9. Developers building UHC or progression systems
  10. Any project that needs a flexible custom craft action API

Why choose IgniteCrafts?

Most crafting plugins either add items to the vanilla table or gate them behind permissions. IgniteCrafts does something different: it makes the unlock itself part of the game.

Players care about what they are crafting because they worked for it. The quest system gives every item a story. The rotating daily and weekly quests keep them coming back. The built-in actions give items a real purpose in gameplay. And for developers, the custom action API means IgniteCrafts can be extended without touching its source.

Unlock. Craft. Use. Progress. Win.

completion. Soft dependency, runs without it.
  4. 🐉 MythicMobs integration - MOB_KILL quests accept MYTHIC: filter syntax for custom mobs.

MYSQL). HikariCP pooling, no manual jar drops.

🔥 What's new in 1.2.0

  1. 💵 Buy crafts with money - /crafts buy unlocks any craft for coins, skipping the
quest. Price is set per craft in crafts.yml via coin-cost.
  2. ✨ Pre-enchanted results - add a result-enchantments block to any craft and the item
comes out already enchanted. Works on tools, armor and enchanted books.
  3. 🤝 Team buffs - new POTION_TEAM action shares the effect with every alive teammate on use.
  4. 🛠 NOOP action - craft-only items (bundles, books, gear) no longer need a fake action. Set NOOP and the item works like vanilla.
  5. 📦 Addon packs - optional craft / quest packs bundled in the plugin, all disabled by default - enable only what you need.
